The Company today

The Company is governed by the Master, two Wardens and a Court of Assistants, supported by a number of specialist committees.

The Court currently numbers 25 and comprises those who have been through ‘the Chair’ – known as Past Masters – and those who are waiting to progress through the rank of Upper Warden to become Master, known as Assistants. The Renter Warden is drawn annually from the Livery and attends all Court Meetings, but has no vote unless and until elected an Assistant at the end of his year of office. The Master is elected annually and the Company's year runs from the date of his installation in July.

The day-to-day management of the Company is delegated to the Clerk, in effect the Chief Executive who is supported by an Administrative Assistant. They are supported by various working committees, such as the Industry Committee, the Charity Committee and the Membership Committee. These are standing committees but others are formed where a special, normally short-term requirement is identified.

The running of the Hall buildings is carried out by a separate limited company, Plaisterers Hall Limited, in which the Livery Company owns the whole of the issued share capital.
