Each of the City's Livery Companies has a Beadle, and the Plaisterers are very lucky to have Jamie Wallis as ours.

The Beadle performs a ceremonial role by making announcements and carrying the Company's staff at the head of the procession during dinners, banquets, church services and other events. During ceremonial events it is the Beadle who calls the gathering to order, introduces speakers, and keeps the event running to time. They also announce guests to the receiving line and act as the liaison between the host and the catering staff since they are the only person (other than the catering staff) who is permitted to move around the room during a formal dinner or banquet.
